It’s with immense pride that we can announce that our Wentworth Point project for City Freeholds through Richard Crookes Construction is now complete. Onsite for the entirety of the project, our MPN team led by Senior Engineers Andrew Murray and Michael Sara, worked closely with Richard Crookes Constructions to ensure this complex ‘Build-to-Rent’ development achieved every milestone despite challenging site constraints, changes in legislation and unforeseen weather events.

About the site

Private property group City Freeholds was focussed on transforming an active industrial location in Western Sydney into a masterplanned residential community. Located on 6.29-hectares with harbour foreshore frontage, the Hill Road site in Wentworth Point was previously occupied by four large warehouses (interestingly these were also engineered by MPN in the 1960’s). It should be noted that many of the sites directly surrounding the City Freeholds’ Development had already been converted from industrial use to residential and commercial.

About the project

Comprised of a 4 Staged Masterplan, Stage 1 designed by Bates Smart Architects consisted of two ten storey buildings containing 207 apartments, 8 foreshore townhouses, landscaped podium with swimming pool, car parking and a network of roads that will service all four sites. Some of the more difficult challenges of this project include deep soft clay soil conditions with a potential for large settlements, a tanked basement due to a high water table and the need to match existing and future finished ground levels where thoroughfare is required to adjoining properties.

Delivering A Successful Outcome

Brought in at the very early stages of this project’s development, MPN’s onsite presence throughout, adaptability and great working relationship with the construction and delivery team helped ensure clear communications, streamlined process and ultimately a successful outcome. It’s important to note that all our structural designs passed first time, when audited through the DB&P Act for Class 2 buildings.
