2025 marks a major milestone for MPN, as our company celebrates 60 years of delivering innovative, engineering solutions that stand the test of time.

Established in 1965 by structural engineers Stephen Mateffy, Les Perl and John Nagy, MPN quickly distinguished itself through a landmark collaborations with prominent organisations, businesses and developers of the day. At a time when retail developments were transforming Australia’s urban landscape, MPN pioneered the use of pre-stressed concrete, enabling the large spans and open designs that have become synonymous with the modern shopping centres we know today. Our on-going partnerships set the foundation for MPN’s reputation as one of the country’s most trusted and forward-thinking engineering groups.

Over the past six decades, MPN has contributed to over eleven thousand major projects across retail, commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use sectors. From shopping centres to high-rise developments and master-planned residential communities, MPN has consistently combined technical expertise with innovative design to meet the evolving needs of our clients and the wider community.

Today, MPN remains a director-led practice, ensuring all projects benefit from close, hands-on involvement at the highest level. In the 1990’s leadership of the group passed to the next generation, with George Perl and Viktor Mateffy, sons of two of the founding partners, serving as directors. Their stewardship reflects both continuity and renewal, carrying forward the values of collaboration and commitment, while guiding the firm into new opportunities in sustainability, adaptive reuse and advanced structural design.
